hello
My name is Teresa Evans, and I'm a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Mason, Ohio. I earned an undergrad in Christian Counseling a couple decades ago, followed it with an MA in Human Services- Marriage & Family, then continued my education journey with an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.

my story
Personally...
I've spent years working as a missionary, a soldier, a full time wife & mom, and a counselor. I raised 4 kids and have added 12 more through life and love. The kids have blessed me with 14 grandkids... and counting. Life is beautiful! Life is also hard sometimes, and I get that. I have personal experience with teen pregnancy, widowhood, and divorce. I've cried out "Jesus!" when I wanted to pray but couldn't find the words to express my pain. I've felt lonely, afraid, and unloved, even while dozens of family and friends reached out to me. I've also experienced incredible joy. Marriage and babies and good news and belly laughs and yes... feeling secure in who I am through Christ.
I take every personality-type of assessment I hear about. I'm an ENFP and an Enneagram 7. When I discovered that, I discovered that I will do almost anything to avoid pain and get to the fun stuff (not always a good thing!). The CliftonStrengths Assessment showed that one of my strengths is Includer... learning this brought insight as to why I'm extra sensitive to feelings of exclusion and I'm extra careful to invite everyone to everything (not always a good thing!).......
Professionally...
I am passionate for people! In therapy, I implement an eclectic approach utilizing different aspects of person-centered therapy to best serve my clients. I believe that each of us has a story to share. I believe we all go through difficult seasons. And I believe that even in the pain there is hope to live a joy-filled life. I work with clients to overcome the hurts of the past, with a focus on building their strengths to thrive in the present and prepare for the future. I typically draw from the modalities of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy. As a Christian, my preference is to integrate a faith-based approach, and I regularly bring prayer and Scripture into the sessions.
I have experience in different arenas of therapy. From in-office and Telehealth biweekly sessions to 5 day intensives. From going on walks with clients during sessions to rock climbing with couples. I had the privilege to attend a Focus on the Family marriage intensive as a participant and then return as a counselor to learn from their team. Through all of my training I just keep coming back to the realization that sometimes we just need a safe space to talk to someone who cares. If I can be that someone for you, give me a call and let's set up a time to begin.
